Chief selector reveals - why Rohit was out and Nayar's return

Along with the announcement of the team of the only Test team against Afghanistan, a name shocked everyone. Roit Sharma, who failed to cash in on repeated occasions, showed the way out and Karun Nair returned to the team. Selection Committee Chairman MSK Prasad said that the selection committee thought that instead of Rohit Sharma, who failed to perform as expected in the long format, this is the "best chance" to return to Karun Nair in the Test team.
Karun made a comeback to the Indian team by making more than 600 runs from Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy while vice-captain Rohit Sharma of the small format suffered the brunt of poor performance in the longer test.
When asked about not giving place to Rohit in the Test team, Prasad said, "We had the best chance to give this opportunity to Karun because he is doing well".
No senior Indian player has been given the place in India A team and Prasad said that Murali Vijay, Riddhiman Saha and Mohammad Shami will play four-day 'Test' against West Indies A and then also participate in a practice match against Essex.
Prasad said, "We discussed. There was a meeting with Virat, Ravi and Rahul. Test specialists like Saha, Vijay and Shami will take part in India's third test against West Indies A, followed by a practice match against Essex and then a Test against England. ''
India's former wicketkeeper Prasad once again clarified that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is India's best wicket-keeper batsman right now.
On asking if the selectors have prepared the pool, "Yes, we are working in this direction. In the last few months, we have tried six wicketkeepers from India A. We are preparing them for the next level. ''
On the question of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin not getting a place in the team, Prasad said, "When he was not given the place, we had made clear that two to three youngsters would be given a chance. It is prudent to give them more opportunities. His (Kuldeep Yadav and Yuswendra Chahal) wickets show their success. They are improving the match-rate matches and when they are winning matches at home and abroad, it is understandable to give them opportunities. ''
