IPL: Virat's 5th defeat, KKR beat by 6 wickets, RCB at number 7 in points table

Chris Lynn's unbeaten 62 runs, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets. Bangalore, batting first, scored a strong 175-run fourth-wicket stand, which Kolkata achieved with 176 runs in 19.1 overs.

New Delhi / Bangalore: Opener Chris Lynn's 62 not out, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets. Bangalore, batting first, scored a strong 175-run fourth-wicket stand, which Kolkata achieved with 176 runs in 19.1 overs.

This is the fourth win in Kolkata's eight matches, while Bangalore has faced fifth defeat in seven matches. 

Opener Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine (27) got 55 runs in 6.3 overs before rain came to chase down the target of 176 runs from Bangalore, so that the rain had come and the game had to be stopped. 

When the game started again, Murugan Ashwin gave Bangalore the first breakthrough by catching Narine at the border. Lynn and Naren shared a 59-run partnership for the first wicket in 7.1 overs. Naren hit three fours and a six on 19 balls. 

Ashwin then made Robin Uthappa (36) his second victim. Uthappa hit three fours and three sixes in 21 balls. Uthappa's wicket dropped to a total of 108. There was a 49-run partnership for the second wicket between Lynn and Uthappa.

Lynn and Nitish Rana (15 not out) shared a 31-run partnership for the third wicket. Rana got two fours in 10 balls and retired hurt. 

After Rana's retired hurt, Andra Russell (0) on his 30th birthday, without playing the account, was caught in the hands of wicketkeeper Quintan D. Coak at Mohammad Sayiraj's ball for batting. Russell's wicket dropped to a score of 139 in 16.3 overs. 

After the dismissal of Russell, Captain Dinesh Karthik (23) gave Lin good support. Kolkata were to score 29 runs in the last three overs and they won the match by scoring 176 runs in 19.5 overs in 19.5 overs. 

Lynn took full advantage of two lifestyles, put seven fours and a six on 52 balls. Lynn and Karthik shared a 25-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Karthik hit two fours and a six on 10 balls. Shubhaman Gill scored an unbeaten five.

Kolkata scored 53 runs in the last five overs For Bangalore, Ashwin took two wickets for 36 runs and Siraj took two wickets for 40 runs. 

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore had set a target of 176 runs to win against Kolkata, thanks to the useful half-centuries from captain Virat Kohli (68 not out) and the useful half-centuries of Brandon McCullum (38) but his bowlers could only defend this goal. 

Here at Kolkata's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Kolkata won the toss and decided to bowl first. Bangalore's Apanaro McCullum and Quinton de Kock (29) shared 67 runs for the first wicket in 8.1 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav endeavored this partnership by catching DKK at the hands of Shubhaman Gill. De Kaka hit three fours and a six in 27 balls. After De Kock was dismissed, McCullum hit four fours and two sixes in 28 balls and caught by Andre Russell in a delivery to wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. 

Rasel made Manan Vohra (0) his second victim on the next ball. Although Virat kept one end and he shared a 65-run partnership with Mandeep Singh (19) for the fourth wicket. Mandeep hit two sixes on 14 balls. He made his third victim by Russell. 

Virat then made an unbeaten partnership of 35 runs for the fifth wicket with Colin de Grandhaum (11 not out) to take Bangalore to a strong score of 175 runs on four wickets. 

Virat scored five fours and three sixes in 44 balls. Bangalore scored 66 runs in the last five overs.

For Kolkata, Andre Russell scored three wickets for 31 runs and Kuldeep Yadav hit one wicket for 20 runs.
