CWG 2018: Amit Pangal, part of silver, lost in final
Amit was competing well in the final, but he was getting weak ahead of Yafai's aggression.
Gold Coast: Indian boxer Amit Pangal got silver medal at the 46-49kg event of Boxing 21st Commonwealth Games being played in Australia. Amit had to face defeat in the final match and he missed the gold. Amit did not let England's Galle Yafai beat the dream of winning his gold by defeating 3-1.
Amit was competing well in the final, but he was getting weak ahead of Yafai's aggression. Amit was dominant in the first round, but in the next two rounds he gradually went backward. In five referees, one gave equal marks to both, and hence the decision was 3-1.
Prior to this, Mary Com handed history medals to India in Boxing by creating history. This is the first time India has won gold medal in Commonwealth Games.
