Australian giants told India not to play Day-Night Test 'selfish' decision
NEW DELHI / MELBOURNE: Australian great batsman Mark Waugh feels that India's refusal to play 'day-night' test during Australia's tour at the end of this year is a 'selfish' decision.
Waugh said at the 'Big Sports Breakfast' show at the local radio station, "If seen from the side of India, it is a bit selfish decision because we need to promote cricket."
He said, "In some countries, day-night test cricket will prove to be something that will change Test cricket in the same way as it should be. That's why Australia, India and England are the only places where Test cricket is left and good is going on. It's a matter of concern for me. "
Cricket Australia tried to convince the BCCI to play day-night Tests at the Adelaide Oval but the Indian board turned down the offer saying it is not ready to play 'pink ball cricket' right now.
Waugh will soon step away from the Australian team selector, he said that he is not able to understand why India refused to play in opulent light.
He said, "His team can play well on day-night cricket, they have many fast bowlers so they do not have to depend solely on spinners and their batsmen are also technically excellent."
