BCCI recommends names of Dravid, Kohli and Gavaskar for sports awards

The BCCI has recommended the name of former Indian captain Rahul Dravid for the prestigious Dronacharya award and once again Virat Kohli has been nominated for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.

New Delhi / Kolkata: The BCCI has recommended the name of former Indian captain Rahul Dravid for the prestigious Dronacharya award and once again Virat Kohli has been nominated for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.

The name of the great opener Sunil Gavaskar has been recommended for Dhyanchand Lifetime Achievement Award.

Head of the Administrator's Committee, Vinod Rai has confirmed Dravid's nomination for the Dronacharya award.

Rai said, "Yes, we have sent many nominations to the government in various sections. Rahul Dronacharya is nominated for the award by the BCCI. "

Under the guidance of Dravid this year, the Under-19 team won the World Cup, which is why their name has been recommended for this award. Under his guidance, the team reached the final in 2016. He is also the coach of India A team and is working as a bridge between junior and senior cricket.

The BCCI stopped sending nominations for the Dronacharya award because sometimes many coaches came forward to take credit for the player's success.

A senior BCCI official said, "It happened when a former Indian opener signed two nominations where the coaches claimed that the player has worked under his guidance. Since then, we stopped sending the nomination. "The

official said," However, when Rajkumar Sharma (Kohli's coach) got Dronacharya award, it was a personal nomination. He was not nominated by the BCCI. For Rahul's person, however, we decided to withdraw from this policy. "

The BCCI has nominated Kohli for the second time in the game Ratna.

Kohli's name was also sent in 2016, but then the three star players of Rio Olympics PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Deepa Karmakar received this award.

As far as Gavaskar is concerned, his contribution to Indian cricket as a player can not be denied.

Normally Dhyan Chand award is given to those who have not received Arjuna award during their play. Gavaskar has received Arjuna Award though.
