Many big and small cricketers of India are currently busy in the Indian Premier League. The Indian Cricket Board has made a list of 23 players who have the highest probability of playing from India. The BCCI wants that these players do not have much time during the IPL.
These 23 are the players which BCCI has not given place in their central contract. These players include Mayank Agrawal, who recently won the Under-19 World Cup, along with the players like Prithvi Shaw and Shivam Mavi, who scored the highest runs in the home season. The selection committee feels that in the near future, these players can play with senior or A team.
A senior BCCI official said on condition of anonymity, "The main plan is to divide the players into three groups. The first group includes the current Under-19 players. The second group has an old under-19 player, where we have players who are playing Under-19 for India for the last three to four years and the third group is of the current A players.
The BCCI wants to keep a close eye on these players because there is a lot of travel in the IPL between the busy schedule and there is a lot of time between the matches, which makes the workload very important.
He said, "I give you an example. Shivm Mavi or young fast bowler like Navdeep Saini can ask Chris Lin or AB De Villiers to throw 60 to 100 balls during his franchisee coach training session, because he is not sure to play in the playing XI.
He said, "BCCI intervenes here. These young people are our property. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is aware of the burden of his body and work, but when the matter comes to Mavi, Navdeep or Dhage (Khan), then it is our responsibility to save them in the interest of Indian cricket.
The training program of this fast bowlers has been prepared by the NCA trainer and physio. The trainers and physios of all eight franchisees have to constantly inform the NCA about the management of the workload of all these players.
It is learned that Abhimanyu Ishwaran of Bengal is not included in the list because he is not playing IPL but he is definitely involved in the race to make the team for the India tour of India A.
These players are on the look of the BCCI-
Existing Under-19: Prithvi Shaw, Shubhaman Gill, Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti.
Former Under-19: Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Prasad Khan, Khalil Ahmed and Sanju Samson
Domestic, India A: Shreyash Aiyar, Washington Sunder, Vijay Shankar, Jaydev Unadkat, Basil Thumpi, Deepak Hooda, Mayank Agarwal, Ravikumar Samarth, Navdeep Saini, Siddharth Kaul, Hanuma Vihari and Ankit Bawne.
